Internship 6-8 weeks

My internship is at Alpha Auto Sales, which sells used and affordable cars to the public and local communities in the general area. My specific job at Alpha Auto Sales is manager of media relations. Primarily, my job is to use social networking and new technologies to advertise and bring more awareness to the community. I usually work six hours, two to three days a week focusing on many aspects of the business.
I do enjoy my internship. Working for Alpha Auto Sales has enlightened me on how important public relations is in the society. In some degree I do believe it is a waste of my time because it is not in the field I really would like to work in. On the hand, I am pleased to learn something new and offer my skills and talents to anyone, who is in need of my assistance. I have learned a lot about buying and selling used cars, and in truth, buying or selling cars is not as easy as everyone’s misconceptions may have you believe it is. Finding a car requires a lot of time and tedious work. From a public relations point of few, I am in the process of completing a communication audit of Alpha Auto Sales.
My goal and job for Alpha Auto Sales is still the same. My goal would be to analyze and achieve my public relation goal., which is to bring more awareness to the business. Finally, after executing my public relations goal I would like to provide evidence to my employer that prove that public relation strategies are necessary.

Guest Speaker

On Sept. 20, 2010, Ron Sachs was the guest speaker for the class that afternoon. Ron Sachs public relations firm is a successful business owned by Mr. Sachs. Overall, I can tell that Mr. Sachs definitely has all three of the C’s, which are charm, charisma and character. When he introduced himself, he was very confident and pleased to be the guest speaker for professor Kinchlow. Mr. Sachs has a motto that he goes by, which is “ Don’t live to work, we work to live.”
Mr. Sachs presentation was pretty good and it was a nice and steady two-way communication between the students and guest speaker. If there was a little more time in class I would have asked, “what were your five top tips on building more clients for yourself”. I would have liked to learn more about how to build, run and maintain a public relations firm for so many years.
Under the umbrella of respecting yourself: Don’t settle for less, have and use your tools that your university has equipped you with, and also integrity are a few of Ron Sachs rules to success. Maintaining eye contact, writing and speaking well to your audience is also part of Sachs rules of success. Mr. Sachs philosophies for respecting yourself is a concept that I applied not only to my field of public relations, but also to my life. Following Sachs rules of success is a great way to increase your level of likeability, integrity and reputation amongst your clients and community.
